Conversational mandarin is being able to listen, read and speak the Chinese language. It includes proper pronunciation, using the right personal pronouns and having the right intonations.
With China’s booming economy, it’s about time we learn Chinese and keep up, before we’re left out. And the first step is to learn conversational Chinese. We’re seeing more communications with Chinese counterparts in the business world and it’s only a matter of time before Mandarin is a key language in our children’s generation.
The goal of this conversational mandarin course is to equip you with the skills to converse in fluent mandarin. That means fulfilling the basic needs of communication in daily lives, including the ability to speak Chinese in both working environments as well as social activities.
And the main focus is to get you speaking Chinese with confidence as quickly as possible.
We start with the essentials. No tedious theory, no confusing phrases. We’ll set the foundation right with skills you can use from day one.
This course is intended for total beginners. After the course, the learner will have a command of about 500 characters. The course includes over 1,000 commonly used sentences and phrases, which will enable the learner to converse comfortably in daily communications. Each level consists of 20 hours / 10 lessons classroom learning.
Beginner 1 – Introducing oneself and others, greetings, exchanging name cards, polite phrases, receiving a guest, country and nationalities, addressing people, occupations and job titles, hobbies, likes and dislikes, family members and personal information, numbers, telephone numbers, days and dates, making a schedule, furniture and locations, colours and clothes. (250 Chinese new words)
Beginner 2 – Food and drinks, ordering food and drinks, bargaining language, money, currency exchange, public facilities, asking for help, asking for directions, means of transportation, daily activities, time and period of the day, making a schedule, making an appointment, asking for permission, body parts and description of one’s appearance, weather and climate, sickness and seeing a doctor (250 Chinese new words)
Intermediate level learners will be able to utilize and maximize their vocabulary and structure with our proven methodology. These levels will enhance their ability to communicate in the daily conversation and business situations more formally.
Linda Mandarin has its own effective and creative system of character teaching which will help you go further on the way of Chinese learning. Each level consists of 40 hours / 20 lessons of classroom learning.
Lower Intermediate – Travelling, business trips, hotel check-in, airport check-in, boarding a plane, Chinese dishes, toasting, asking for advice and permission, starting a conversation, brief introduction of a company, paying a visit, Chinese learning experience.
Speech and presentation, making comments, awarding a prize, custom, and habit, job interview, work experience, organizational structure, giving a gift, renting an apartment, planning, and budget. (600 Chinese new words)
Upper Intermediate – Traffic in China, polite request, marketing positioning, marketing strategies, sports, Interview, Family structure, Mood and Emotion, Occupation.
Chinese traditional philosophy, emailing, advertisement, slow-paced life, company departments, geography, green life, product presentation. (800 Chinese new words)
The Advance Levels best suits business individuals, corporations and language lovers who are willing to master Chinese business skills, knowledge, communication skills and Chinese customs. Levels are also designed to gain a vast knowledge of China’s emerging market and business culture.
This level also aims to increase their frequency of terminology and how to use them spontaneously with good grammatical control.
Conversational Advanced Level is on Chinese culture and modern China situations while Business Mandarin Training or HSK exam preparation can be tailor-made to clients special needs. Refer to our Business Mandarin Page for more information.

Our Chinese lessons have been designed to enhance daily conversational skills on top of practical vocabulary knowledge through a simple role-play teaching method. While you might encounter a word or a phrase that’s particularly challenging to pronounce, don’t give up!
Through regular practice and scenarios learning, you will soon realise in your ability to recognize the sounds of Mandarin before producing them naturally. As your skills develop, you will unknowingly begin to converse more effectively in the various daily conversations.
We use the syllabus from Hanban, a Public institute affiliated to China Ministry of Education.
